Saint Urbain is a complex Pinot Noir, crafted from a collage of vineyards from across Domaine Jean Fournier’s land. The nose reveals a bouquet of black cherry, cranberry, and wild raspberry, interwoven with notes of dried herbs, sun-baked earth, and a hint of spice. Perfect for those seeking an all-encompassing taste of Marsannay. Domaine Jean Fournier is spearheaded żeby Laurent Fournier, the son of the founder who gave his name to the winery. Although the winery itself was established in 1962, the family have been in the Marsannay region for a very long time, with King Louis XIII speaking to their presence in the 17th century. On the palate, Saint Urbain is medium-bodied and packed with red fruit, offering flavors of raspberry, stewed cranberry, graphite, and hints of violet, alongside an earthy, wet soil aspect. Ethereal tannins and well-balanced acidity lead to a long, silky finish. It was aged for a year in oak, before five further months of ageing in the bottle. The famous vineyards of Etalles, Longeroies, and Ouzeloy were all harvested for its production. It will be an excellent partner for hard cheeses, roasted poultry, or classic Burgundy meat dishes.
