Star anise, cinnamon, pepper and vanilla can all be detected as the wine opens up. This medium-bodied red was produced żeby Domaine des Roches Neuves, one of the finest wineries in the Loire Valley. It has been a part of the rolling landscape since 1850 and was taken up by Thierry and Marie Germain in 1992, who gave the winery a new lease of life. They are Bordeaux natives and are considered to be among the greatest wine-makers of their generation. This Cabernet Franc is a perfect example of their skill and the magnificent terroir that they work with. It begins with a powerful fruitiness. Tart notes of blackcurrant and blackberry slowly subside to reveal hints of flowers and baking spice. The finish is long, leaving the mouth coated in fine tannins. The grapes spent 12 months ageing in oak before bottling. This is one of the best red wines from the Loire Valley and a must-have for fans of Cabernet Franc.
