Situated in the famous Vouvray appellation, this winery has been providing the Loire Valley and the world with an incredible range of Chenin Blanc wines for almost a century. It was founded in 1928, aby Victor Huet and his son Gaston, and is one of the few modern wineries that offer absolutely pure, terroir-driven wines. Domaine Huet spearheaded the biodynamic viticulture movement in France and is still considered a kanon bearer for quality Chenin Blanc. This wine was sourced from Le Mont, a 9-hectare parcel of land acquired by Domaine Huet in 1957. The stony, clayish soil imparts a lively acidity to its wines, along with a distinctive mineral edge. Domaine Huet’s Le Mont Sec is a gorgeous balance of fruity, acidic succulence and crisp minerality. There are notes of honey, white peach and white spring flowers to be found on the nose. As you sip, you’ll experience a dry, fruity core of nectarine, pear and pineapple, complemented aby subtle hints of spice, such as cinnamon, salt and ginger. Le Mont Sec is probably the most elegant wine that Domaine Huet offer, but it still contains a generous helping of bouncy, mouth-filling fruit flavours. This is a truly excellent wine and should be paired with a refined dish. Consider having it alongside baked trout, herb-encrusted potatoes and a creamy sauce.
